London Mets' coach Solomon Ayinla was a happy man after watching his side beat high-flying Leeds Carnegie 99-75 on Saturday. Carnegie went into the game joint top of the table, but were outscored in each of the four periods as Mets recorded a comfortable win.

"I'm really proud of how these young boys are maturing on and off the court," said Ayinla.

"I've watched them grow up from juniors at Hackney Community College and Hackney White Heat.

"On Saturday we started four Hackney boys and Leeds started two. But what was more satisfying than the victory against Leeds on Saturday was that three out of those six are graduates and the other three are in their final year at the university.

"As a matter of fact, Ladi Brown is doing his Master's at Leeds. This also made me very proud."

Led by 26 Dave Ajumobi points, Mets were 27-21 ahead at the first break, and they extended their lead to 50-40 going into the locker room. A 25-18 third period left Mets comfortably in control, and they wrapped up the win with a 24-17 final stanza.

Arturo Noha-Pascual added 18 and Jean Wakanena 16 for London, while Leeds were led by Adrian Fenyn (26) and Brown 13.

Bristol Academy Flyers recorded their third victory of the season against Reading Rockets with a 78-68 road victory on Saturday. In a game blighted by 60 free throws, Reading's first half efforts and lead were overcome by a third quarter 11-0 Bristol run as they kept up their push for home court advantage in the playoffs.

Fenny Falmagne was not yet ready following injury but Jon May and Robbie Parker had fully recovered.

Rockets' new head coach, Matt Johnson, saw his charges in competitive mood from tip with Louis Sayers and Robbie Parker hitting key threes, edging Reading ahead in the first quarter 18-15.

Defences were on top throughout the game with a pair of key offensive rebounds in the second period by Lohfink enabling Rockets to go into the interval 33-31 up.

After the break Bristol blitzed out of the stalls scoring, stealing and dunking their way to a 55-48 fouth quarter lead. A couple of minutes of lack of concentration caused Rockets to turn the ball over three times in quick succession giving Bristol more confidence and a nine point cushion.

Though a Thoseby three reduced the gap, Bristol held on by scoring more points from the free throw line to secure a ten point win.

Lohfink and Parker each scored 17 for Rockets, with Louis Sayers adding 12. Greg Streete also scored 17 to lead the Flyers, with American pair Doug McLaughlin-Williams and Davis Browne chipping in with 12 apiece.
